Underwater noise protection

SPAIN CALLED TO BE A WORLD PIONEER IN THE PROTECTION OF CETACEANS FROM THE PROBLEM OF UNDERWATER NOISE

The Cetacean Migration Corridor Management Plan should be a key tool to advance in the fight against climate change and underwater noise

This morning MAPF attended to the press conference regarding the presentation of “Quiet Waters for Whales and Dolphins”.

This document has been presented by Ocean Care along with Marilles und Alnitak, in order to support MITECO in the development of the conservation management plan of the Cetacean Migration Corridor, which focuses especially on measures to avoid, reduce and mitigate underwater noise-generating activities. In addition, recommendations on monitoring and implementation of the plan are included in the report, with the aim of making it an example of Best Practice in the governance of marine protected areas, which could be replicated elsewhere in the world.
